Coffee packaging design development “Caffein”
Creating a modern packaging design is a complex and precise process that requires a lot of knowledge and experience. After all, it ultimately plays an important role for the future brand-awareness, affects the buyer’s choice and, as a result, — defines the company's profit. Therefore, the task of the packaging designer is to lead the buyer through the potential interest in stylish packaging to making a purchase and to form a strong brand loyalty in the future.
One of the best examples of coffee packaging is the design for the “Caffein” company, the largest Ukrainian supplier of high-quality coffee beans.
MAIN FEATURES OF “CAFFEIN” COFFEE PACKAGING
The company needed to create a package for coffee that would not be strictly associated with the drink — without any image of coffee beans and other coffee symbols. At the same time, the illustration of the packaging should create an association with the brand “Caffein” , that is different from competitors and transmit the depth, power and energy of this drink.
For all these purposes, I developed a stylish black packaging design with a graphic image of wild animals from the continents, which play a key role in the coffee industry’s development:
1. A package with an elephant: for 100% Arabica.
2. A package with a buffalo: for exclusive coffee blends.
Both packages were designed in three sizes: 1kg, 350g and 250g.
To save packaging costs, I thought out an additional detail: a sticker with the blend name on it. It is written on a transparent background, so it fits the overall design. How can this design save money? All packages are printed in bulk, without specifying each individual blend. And when packing coffee beans, the packer glues a sticker on each package that provides all the necessary information. This small but very important detail makes the packaging design very versatile. For example, if a company starts selling a new blend, there is no need to pay for additional packaging production: just print some extra stickers.
PACKAGING DESIGN THAT SELLS: THE MAIN TRENDS
The best packaging is one that may create a loyalty to the brand, to feel its exclusiveness, to catch and to encourage the purchase in one single moment. In this case, I made my best to achieve a 100% of the desired result.
